There are 368 pages in The Book of Yes. I intended this non-traditional book form for both the intimacy that a small, single page invites and the drama of a large-scale installation in a spacious environment.
The evolving focus for this body of work led me to three specific limitations for each image:
* consistent size (11.25 x 15)
* the inclusion of the word yes as either calligraphic mark, or to form the structure of the composition, or to develop texture (and content) through text
* a willingness to experiment and take risks
The Book of Yes is my answer to “no” and to all those inner and outer forces that would contain, restrict, silence or deny our authenticity and its fullest expression. It is a testament to the power of intention and of a commitment to personal vision.
George Leonard says, “Life has one ultimate message: Yes! repeated in an infinite number and variety.” The Book of Yes is my affirmation of this wisdom.
